Quick trip to Nashville, TN

April 1 - 3

When you hear the word Nashville, most people think immediately of Country music, Mountains, and well.... Country Music. After crossing the state line into Tennessee I can swear I heard Conway Twitty singing to me "Hello Darlin`"
And so here goes the experience I had while there for a few days this week. From an Awesome Tour at Belle Meade Plantation to the nights at the "Uncomfortable Inn"

Stop 1-
Belle Meade Plantation
Belle Meade Plantation is located about 7 miles from Downtown Nashville. I knew this plantation was going to be one of the highlights of my trip the moment I logged onto their website and started poking around. While most southern plantations raised sugar cane, cotton, and rice, Belle Meade Plantation raised, raced and sold Horses. Our guide Margret told us stories about the owners of the home, and of the champion race horses that they raised and loved like they were pets. The home is filled with beautiful antiques that nearly all belonged at some point to the various owners of the plantation. But by far my favorite was the first floor hallway which was filled with paintings of many of the beautiful horses that lived and raced on the plantation. There is a Winery (which gives free samples woohooo), you can tour the stables, slave cabin, and a few other out buildings on the grounds. They have an on site restaurant and a really well stocked gift shop for all those souvenirs you want to bring home.
If ever you are in Nashville you have to tour Belle Meade Plantation. But until then feel free to go here Belle Meade Plantation and order some of their awesome wine. Yum!
So over all Belle Meade gets five out of five suitcases on my scale of awesomeness :)

Stop 2-
The Loveless Cafe
About nine miles down the road from Belle Meade Plantation sits a small cafe called The Loveless Cafe. After seeing this restaurant featured on the Food Channel and The Travel Channel I made sure that when we got to Nashville we went there. World famous for their homemade biscuits and country cooking. So we headed right on over after our first stop of the day. We got there at around noon and were told that there would be about a 45 minuet wait. This was ok with me because they had a gift shop and Lard knows I love me a gift shop. So I shopped while I waited. I got some fridge magnets and a cook book of recipes from the restaurant itself. I had wasted about 30 minuets so when I walked back over to the Cafe I went inside and asked the hostess if she knew how much longer we had to wait. She looked at her watch and said well you got here 30 mins ago and I said there was a 45 minuet wait so that leaves you another 15 minuets.  (Yes she was a little rude, a lot rude actually) But I walked back outside and waited, mainly because after all I had driven from Louisiana and this was one of the places I HAD to visit while I was in Nashville.  About 5 minutes later our little buzzer light thing went off for a few seconds and then stopped. I told my friend we should go in and ask her if we were buzzed or if it was broken. when I handed the buzzer to the gentleman behind the counter next to her she looked over and said.. "I didn't buzz that." I told them that it actually had gone off and stopped and she repeated what she said the first time. Well this was the places second strike as far as I am concerned. The third strike was people being seated before us who got there a good 10 minuets after we had gotten there. Ten long minuets latter our buzzer finally went off and we were seated. That's when things started to get much better. Our waitress Joy was great, she was friendly and very welcoming. Brought us more than enough of their famous biscuits while we waited for our lunches.  AND OH MY GOSH THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!!! I had chicken fried steak with sides of homemade mac and cheese and caramel sweet potatoes. I am seriously drooling just thinking about it right now. After stuffing our selves so full we could barely walk, we were off on our way to the next stop after getting directions from our server Joy. Oh and did I mention the piece of peanut butter pie i got to go? OMG you should all be jealous....

Visit them online here The Loveless Cafe they sell some pretty cool stuff including biscuit mix :)
So all in all The Loveless Cafe gets 4 1/2 Suitcases on my scale of awesomeness. Even though the food was amazing and I can still taste those awesome biscuits they are getting some points deducted for the not so nice hostess. Maybe Joy can give her a few lessons in how to treat customers.

Stop 3-
The Uncomfortable Inn
I'm not going to mention the actual name of the hotel but I am sure you can guess. It was horrible. While it was in a really good location, nothing can make up for dirty smelly rooms, construction noise and rude staff. Run don't walk to another hotel!

So all in all Nashville gets Five of Five suitcases! It was a great trip. Friendly people everywhere we went. Good food and interesting history!
And as we cross the border from Tennessee into Alabama I can hear Garth Brooks Singing to me "When You Come Back to me Again"
